Highly popular animated TV series, The Boodocks, will be returning to television in 2010 after a nearly three-year hiatus.

Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder released a message via his twitter account on Christmas Eve announcing that The Boondocks have officially been given an airdate and a greenlight for season 3 (FINALLY!!!). Take a look at the tweet below:

The series, based on McGruder’s comic strip, first debuted on the cartoon Network as part of the network’s “Adult Swim” line-up and developed a cult following almost immediately and gained popularity although not without controversy due to is constant use of the “N” word and heavy criticism of African-American programming cable network BET.

Stayed tuned for the official announcement of the show’s airdate. Can’t wait!!
