The Throne debuts the “Otis” video directed by Spike Jonze. Looks like they had a blast making a simple, dope video featuring a ‘chopped & screwed’ Maybach (which I saw up close & personal and it’s even crazier in person); Check it out.
According to Forbes; Jay-Z proved to be Hip Hop’s top earner and tops the Cash Kings list with grossing $63 million in the last 12 months. Coming in second was Diddy with $30 mil, Akon’s $21 Mil landed him at the no. 3 spot (signing Lady Gaga proved to be a GREAT move), the no. 4 spot goes to Lil’ Wayne who earned $20 Milli and rounding out the top 5 is Dr. Dre with $17 Mil.
Hov performed last night in Radio City Music Hall at the opening ceremony for the Nike World Basketball Festival. Assisted by his right-hand man Memphis Bleek sporting a new look ditching the trademark doo-rag & fitted a Kanye-esque suit & baldy. Hov rocks Radio City with his truckload of hits and opens with “Hovi Baby” – NICE!
Check out these pair of Air Force 1’s designed by Jay-Z in a collaboration with Nike to celebrate the World Basketball Festival. There are 5 designs that Jigga & Nike created which represents the countries of USA, Brazil, China, France & Puerto Rico; all proceeds go to charity. More Info below:
“As part of the inaugural World Basketball Festival – brought together by Converse, the Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball – recording artist JAY-Z will take the stage at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Thursday August 12, 2010, following an on-court showcase featuring finalists for the 2010 USA Basketball World Championship Team.
In addition to his performance, JAY-Z has joined forces with Nike to create an iconic collection of Air Force Ones – the All Black Everything collection inspired by the World Basketball Festival. Nike has donated the shoes to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation who in turn have linked up with eBay on a charity auction that begins on August 12th at www.ebay.com/jayznikewbf. Only two pairs of each of the five designs will be created, one for the winning bidder and one for the man behind the design, JAY-Z.
The entire Radio City Music Hall basketball and musical performance will stream live on http://www.facebook.com/wbf beginning at 6:30 p.m. EDT until its conclusion.”
Finally…after all the commotion this caused when it was first mentioned a few months back…the track “Under Pressure” is exactly that under pressure to be a hit since it features two Hip-Hop Icons; Dr. Dre & Jay-Z. Thoughts??
One of the most anticipated tracks of Drake’s Thank Me Later has leaked…the highly talked about Drake x Jay-Z collaboration “Light Up” — always infamous The Evil Empire got their hands on the track and set it free. Sounds good to me, you should check it out too. Of course it tagged up though.
Jay-Z momentarily traded in the mic for the editorial pen — Jay-Z writes the introduction to Rolling Stone magazine’s upcoming issue that tackles the 500 greastest songs of all time…all time (that’s the Kanye effect). In the intro Jigga writes about what music means to him and how music has changed for the better and for the worse. Check it out – it’s a real interesting read. The issue will be out soon.
